Connect Group provided rotating equipment maintenance and outage execution support for multiple crusher and surge apron feeder systems at Suncor Fort Hills.
The work involved heavy mechanical maintenance and replacement scopes on critical material handling assets supporting crusher and slurry preparation operations. Activities included inspection and replacement of wear components, feeder system repairs, chain and rail maintenance, shaft and drive component handling, alignment verification, and mechanical reinstatement.
Execution required coordinated crane and rigging support, confined and congested work area planning, and detailed sequencing to safely complete work within planned outage durations. CGI integrated field supervision, QA/QC coordination, and subcontractor management to maintain productivity and execution control throughout the projects.
The scopes were completed in active operating environments where maintaining outage schedules and minimizing operational disruption were critical to project success.
Outcome:
✔ Multiple crusher and surge feeder systems maintained and restored
✔ Heavy mechanical scopes executed within outage windows
✔ Coordinated rigging, alignment, and mechanical reinstatement completed safely
✔ Integrated field execution and QA/QC controls maintained throughout
✔ Reliable return-to-service achieved for critical material handling assets
